An idea sparked by change, The Great Pumpkin Giveaway is more than an opportunity for The Kris Lindahl Team of RE/MAX Results to get their name out in the community. After learning that the Guinness World Record winning line-up of pumpkins totalled 1464 meters (taller than the tallest mountain in the British Isles) we had a few questions for the team. On top of the answers we were looking for, we also learned a few valuable lessons you can also apply to your business as we head into the holiday season, a time notorious for giving back.
The Great Pumpkin GiveawayTop 5 Lessons
Lesson #1When going through a period of change, it can be scary but can also spark some ideas that can have a big impact on your future.
Q: How did the idea for “The Great Pumpkin Giveaway” come to be?
A: In 2014, our inaugural year, we had just switched to RE/MAX Results and wanted to do a past client/community event highlighting the move and that allowed us to give back to our supporters and the neighborhood that we live in. The basic idea was to provide an event free of charge with all kinds of family fun and bring the community together for an afternoon.
Lesson #2You have to start somewhere, and hard work will help you continue to grow and become even better than you were in the past.
Q: How many years have you and your team been doing this?
A: This was our 3rd consecutive year – and each year the event grows! The first year we gave out 3000 pumpkins, 7000 the 2nd year, and then this year it was 10,734 – so just under 11,000. It has become a tradition to attend for many past clients and loyal advocates in the community.
Lesson #3There is nothing like working together as a team to accomplish a common goal and to celebrate success while giving back to your community.
Q: What is your favourite part/memory of this annual event?
A: This year’s best memory had to be breaking the world record and watching the reaction of our clients, family, and friends when they learned that they got to be a part of something so big. It was also a great culture builder for our team of agents that spend their Saturday afternoon out there lining up 10,734 pumpkins. So watching a community come together to celebrate and giving them something to be excited about – being a part of something bigger.
Learning Lesson #4There is no limit on success.
Q: This was a huge accomplishment! Are there any plans to try and beat it next year?
A: Bigger is always better with The Kris Lindahl Team. If we have the opportunity we will try again! The Great Pumpkin Giveaway has grown every year and we don’t see it slowing down anytime soon.
Lesson #5The best way to make an impact in the community you live and work in is to lend a helping hand where it is needed.
Q: How else does your team get involved in the community throughout the year?
A: The Kris Lindahl Team is actively involved in the community as we sponsor many local non-profit events and charities. We sponsor many golf tournaments throughout the year that include TPC Rose, Stepping Stone, Hope For Tomorrow, and multiple school/sports teams events. Then we have countless other smaller charities that we have donated too whether they be family benefits all the way up to buying a table at a gala. Finally we are constantly doing giveaways through our marketing to offer our loyal advocates and community a chance to win something that they may never would have the opportunity to receive without us.
The Kris Lindahl Team at RE/MAX Results has gone above and beyond to make an impact in their community, but it’s important to remember that every little bit helps! Whether a bake sale, a food drive, or a big Guinness World Record Breaking event, we want to know how you make an impact in your community!
