From the lights to the music to the more than 500 community members in attendance, one could say the RE/MAX Synergy Summer Block Party certainly rocked this year! As it should. The masterminds behind the event have put a lot of thought and energy into what this means to their agents, their community, and their culture of giving.
With six offices, four in the Twin Cities metro and two in western Wisconsin, and more than 50 agents, RE/MAX Synergy recognized a few years back the need to help their associates easily and affordably hold appreciation parties for their clients. So, three years ago they held their inaugural Summer Block Party as a customer appreciation event on behalf of all their agents.
RE/MAX Synergy Manager, Dan Schultz explains, “The block party has given our agents the opportunity to host an appreciation event for their clients at a fraction of the cost it would take to do it themselves. They have an option to buy-in at a set price with the rest of the funds coming from community sponsors. The agents can also pay for and have drink tickets made prior to the event that they can hand out to their clients, prospects, and friends.”
But it doesn’t stop with clients. The event is open to the public as RE/MAX Synergy views everyone in the community as a potential client. This year, they had their best turnout yet, welcoming more than 500 clients and community members! The event took place Friday, August 17 from 6-11 p.m. at their main office in Forest Lake, MN. They featured the band “Good For Gary” and provided food to the first 400 visitors. There was free water and soda with food and alcohol served by a third-party vendor.
Although the event oozes a lot of energy and camaraderie, it’s not all about the party. RE/MAX Synergy uses the block party as an opportunity to promote and raise funds for their non-profit organization, the Muske Community Support Foundation, a registered 501C3. The foundation is managed and funded by their agents; each agent donates a portion of their commissions yearly and a board of agents meets twice a month to review and approve the donation requests.
RE/MAX Synergy hosts multiple fundraising events during year, helping to raise additional capital for the foundation. This year, in conjunction with the Summer Block Party, local businesses donated prizes for a raffle and the brokerage was excited to raise an additional $1,600 for the foundation.
“Each year through the foundation we donate more than $20,000 back to the communities we serve,” says Schulz. “We’ve given approximately half a million dollars back since the organization was formed.”
