Welcome to the crazy days, or is it daze, of the summer selling season! We know your efforts are amped to the max to help as many home-crazed buyers and sellers as you can. But we also know it’s really important to maintain a level of consistency, and normalcy, so that you don’t lose track of what’s been done versus what needs to be done. So…in all your hustle and bustle, check out these top 5 tips to help keep you consistent in your constant stream of work.
It’s difficult to find the time to educate yourself when you’re constantly running between clients meetings and showings. Block off a morning or an afternoon to research, refresh, and learn more about any programs, tools or strategies that will bring efficiency to your days. A great place to start is at your local office where you can learn if there are any upcoming office training sessions, and about any upcoming training events you can attend. Remember, a little bit of preparation up front saves time in the long run.
It’s very difficult to start the busy season on the right foot when you can’t even see where that foot is planted. Whether it’s organization in the literal sense, or a plan for organization going forward, the best place to start is with a well-planned strategy and a well thought out execution plan. A great place to start is with these 5 Strategies to Organize and Break Through.
Find a Single Focus:
It’s easy to think about all the things you have to do, and you might think that multi-tasking is the answer; I’ll process this video while I send this document and heat up lunch. What really ends up happening is you forget to post the video, you miss something on the document and lunch gets cold. Instead, find the one thing you need to focus on, create a realistic plan, with realistic timelines, that will help you work towards accomplishing it, and finish it before starting the next item.
If you have so many pressing matters to attend to, you may easily feel overwhelmed and bounce from one thing to another, never really accomplishing anything. First, see the “Find a Single Focus” suggestion above. Then, to avoid getting distracted from your to-do list, find your place. That may mean leaving the office, or leaving your home for the office. Turning off the TV or turning on white noise. Not looking at your cell phone, texts or emails for awhile. And don’t forget the importance of a break. If you have a long to-do list, get up in between each task, take a quick walk around to reset your mind and focus, then sit down to tackle the next item.
Get Up Earlier:
It is proven that the majority of people are more productive in the morning. With the sun rising early these days, set your alarm for 30-60 minutes earlier than usual. You will find that you will accomplish more, which could mean you could end your day earlier and have more time to yourself during the summer evenings, when you are likely to be less productive and get less done anyway!
Now that you have all the information you need, all you have to do is get started! Start by making a detailed list of everything you need to accomplish during this frenzied-time in real estate, and use these tips to help you accomplish it. If you successfully follow the information above, you will have the items crossed off in no time so you are prepared to stay consistent all summer long.
