Check it out! Deb Casper with RE/MAX Specialists is getting free exposure! This article (click it to read it)  just ran in the North Oaks News and talks about Deb’s real estate business, her support and contributions to Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) and a recently sold house. It shows that Deb is working hard to make things happen for home buyers and sellers. And with more than 1,900 households receiving this weekly publication they could be Deb’s future clients.
Are you interested in getting some free exposure? Try this simple idea: use a press release.Â
A press release is a brief informational statement about important happenings at your business. A press release follows a specific format and should contain only concise information about upcoming events, recent awards, new designations, new associates, etc.Â
A well-written press release could catch attention from local newspapers or magazines. If they think your release is useful to their readers they might publish it. If they feel it warrants more information they may ask you for an in-depth interview, giving you more exposure.
Did you know? Press release templates are hosted on www.MyRemaxTools.com. They can be found in the Download Zone under Marketing Materials. If you don’t see a template you need, email me at khenke@remax-nc.net. If you have questions, give me a call at the regional office – 800.878.8138.

As the writer of Deb’s story and editor of the North Oaks News, I would encourage agents to approach reporters and editors of your local newspapers as an information source. There is a fine line between a story that is entertaining for readers and one that comes across as a sales piece for the realtor.
Come up with an “angle,” that makes your story stand out. In this example, the angle was “It takes a Miracle.” Perhaps offer to provide a reporter with home sales data by neighborhood or other information that could become the basis of a good story (compare 2000 sales to 2009 sales; are sales of $150,000 homes raising rapidly and those $500,000+ stagnant; are there numerous foreclosures in your area? how is this impacting local home sales?) The possibilities are endless.
Deb was wonderful to work with — she was extremely responsive to my initial inquiry and provided great background information, quotes, and photos that easily translated into the story. Journalists are strapped for time. The easier you can make a story for the writer/editor to produce, the better the chance it will be used.
Deb – thanks for sharing your story!
