Emalie had her first open-heart surgery three days after she was born, ironically, on Valentine’s Day. Born with a rare congenital heart defect, Emalie has spent much of her life in the hospital.
Emalie’s illness is complex; the uncertain diagnosis affects most major systems of the body. While it causes problems with her vision, immune system, hearing, and digestion, she doesn’t let her condition get her down.
Determined to be like any other kid, Emalie participates in many extracurricular activities including Girl Scouts and two cheerleading teams. She loves performing and lights up the stage during cheerleading competitions.
At Boston Children’s Hospital, CMN Hospitals funds support area’s like child life music therapy program which Emalie has benefited from since she was 18 months old. Music therapy brings the healing joy of music to patients and families, mitigating the stress of a hospital stay.
Emalie was cared for at one of the nine CMN Hospitals in New England that are supported by local RE/MAX New England offices and Brokers. Are you already supporting your local CMN Hospital? Thank you! If not, learn how by contacting Stacy McNary at SMcNary@remaxintegra.com / 508.655.9400.
