RE/MAX Advanced Realty associates have been busy swinging hammers and pounding nails, getting ready for the Indiana Historical Society’s Festival of Trees.

The Indiana Historical Society is a large non-profit in downtown Indianapolis.  Each year, they put on an array of exhibits to highlight the area’s history. One of their largest community events is the Festival of Trees where more than 80 companies have the opportunity to sponsor a tree, which really means, they get to decorate it and light it up for all to see!  But for those involved, it’s much more than just decorating a tree…

Cole Wilgus, a Social Media Coordinator and Videographer for RE/MAX Advanced Realty and the Indy Home Pros Team, was one of the leads on their tree this year. “This experience has been great. We have around 70 agents in our office and you don’t get to see everyone all the time. But this event has everyone excited. Even if agents aren’t able to help build it, they’re promoting the event, telling clients, friends and family to go see it. It really builds a team spirit!”

From November 15 to January 6, the exhibit, which is located within the Historical Society building on the corner of North West Street and New York Street in downtown, is open to the public. Visitors can meander the hall of trees, decorated in whimsical ways. The whole place becomes a winter wonderland. With a 3-story tree to walk through and Santa visits, kids of all ages will enjoy themselves.  And…the community votes on their favorite tree!

Cole says, “As a local business, it’s a great way to support the community. This year, we got the best spot in the house. We’re on the second floor and face the street, so people can see us from the inside and outside.”

The RE/MAX Advanced Realty team spent two-months working on their tree. Cole jokes, “It’s been a little intense but it’ll pay off, especially if we win. I’m not sure what we win, but I’ll take bragging rights!”
